Froma Harrop's Oct. 8 Commentary column "Some perspective on the Foley affair" is nothing more than sleight-of-hand advocacy for a continuing salacious slippery slope in our society.

As a native Rhode Islander living in the Omaha suburbs, I was pleased by the terrific take that Froma Harrop had on the Cornhusker State ("It's simply nicer in Nebraska," Commentary, Sept. 6). Her columns appear occasionally on the op-ed page of The Omaha World Herald.

In her misleading and highly political column of Sept. 24, Ms. Froma Harrop took blunderbusslike aim at President Bush and at those who oppose embryonic stem-cell research.
