Fujirebio Diagnostics, a world leader in cancer diagnostics and biomarker assays, announced today it has acquired American Biological Technologies, the Seguin, Texas-based manufacturer of in vitro diagnostic assay controls and calibrators.

Fujirebio Diagnostics has reported that the company's HE4 test is now CE marked and available for sale throughout the EU. The test measures for a substance known as HE4, which many studies have shown can be elevated in epithelial ovarian cancers.

Fujirebio Diagnostics has said that the US Patent and Trademark Office has issued a patent for the HE4 biomarker. The company, which was notified of the patent allowance last June, expects this to be the first of a family of patents for this ovarian cancer biomarker.
