WASHINGTON, Feb.

More than seven years after completing their three-month prime missions on opposite sides of Mars, NASA rovers Spirit and Opportunity have been selected for lifetime achievement award honors as part of the Breakthrough Awards presented by Popular Mechanics magazine.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory is joining forces with Utah's original corn maze, Cornbelly's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Fest, for a kickoff celebration on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

NASA will host a media teleconference on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 12:30 p.m. PDT to discuss progress of NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity.

NASA’s next Mars rover, nicknamed Curiosity, departed March Air Force Base in California and arrived at Kennedy Space Center in Florida Wednesday night where it will undergo final launch testing.
