Andrea Petkovic of Germany won her first WTA title Sunday, defeating Romanian Ioana Raluca Olaru in the Bad Gastein tournament in Austria. Petkovic's winning score was 6-2, 6-3. Loana Raluca Olaru of Romania upset top-seeded Alize Cornet of France Saturday in the semifinals of the Gastein Ladies tennis tournament. Olaru, 20 and ranked 66th in the world, rallied from a set down to post a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory to reach a WTA Tour final for the first time in her young career. She will meet another first-time WTA finalist, 21-year-old German Andrea Petkovic, in Sunday's final.
No. 1-seed Alize Cornet rallied for a three-set win Thursday, a day when two other high seeds lost at the Gastein Ladies tennis tournament in Austria. Cornet had her serve broken three times in the opening set before she came back for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over local favorite Patricia Mayr.
Magdalena Rybarikova defeated defending champion Pauline Parmentier in second-round play at the Gastein Ladies tennis tournament in Austria. Rybarikova, seeded sixth, posted the only service break of the third set to take a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Parmentier.
