By ALAN MacDERMID BRITISH Airways was planning for business as usual today and tomorrow after a marathon negotiating session averted a two-day strike by cabin crews.

Why are flights being cancelled? Of the airline's 15,000 cabin crew, about 11,000 are members of BASSA, the BA cabin crew arm of the giant Transport and General Workers' Union, 96 per cent of whom voted to strike. Some 4,000 remaining cabin crew are expected to work normally.
