MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) -- Google Inc. said Tuesday that its chief financial officer will retire by the end of the year, creating the highest-ranking job opening at the Internet search leader since it went public three years ago.

Google CFO George Reyes plans to retire and will be replaced by the company by year's end, Google has announced. The company gave no further explanation for Reyes' retirement. Reyes, 53, became Google's CFO in 2002.
