Serbia's Novak Djokovic beat Belgium's Olivier Rochus in straight sets Saturday in one semifinal at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany. The scores were 7-6 (9-7), 6-4. During a tense first set, Rochus rallied back from a 0-3 deficit to force a tie-break, where Djokovic won the last three points. In the second, the second-seeded Djokovic needed just one service break to wrap up his victory. On Sunday, he will face Germany's Tommy Haas, a 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3) victor against countryman Philipp Kohlschreiber, last year's runner-up. To make it to the finals with such a match is really special for me and the fact that it is in Germany makes it extra special, Haas said about his win.

Defending champion Roger Federer, saying he was emotionally drained from his win at the French Open, withdrew Tuesday from this week's tournament in Germany. Federer was to open his draw at the Gerry Weber Open, a tournament he's won five times in six years, on Wednesday but pulled out with an apology to the tournament organizers, my competitors and my fans in Germany. I only hope they will understand that I still feel emotionally overwhelmed and exhausted by the incredible events of the past few days, Federer said on his Web site.
