A group of British scientists are getting ready to create a digital model of Mount Rushmore by using laser scanning that would help recreate the monument if it were ever damaged.

GLASGOW School of Art has installed a wind turbine on its campus - the first in the city. The turbine - 6.5 metres high - has been erected opposite the Mackintosh Building, on the 10-storey Newberry Tower at Garnethill.

By PHIL MILLER ARTS CORRESPONDENT A GIFT of more than GBP800,000 has been left to the Glasgow School of Art by a former student. Clark Fyfe, who studied architecture at the school in the 1930s, met his future wife, Grace, there and went on to become the county architect for Ayrshire.
