Newly sworn-in Gov. Joe Kernan has declared Sunday a statewide day of remembrance in honor of his friend and political partner Gov. Frank O'Bannon, who died five days after suffering a stroke.
Indiana Gov. Frank O'Bannon was in a drug-induced coma and tethered to a ventilator early Tuesday following a massive stroke that left state officials scrambling to prepare for the worst. "I would just ask all Hoosiers to join hands and say a prayer," said Lt. Gov.
Indiana Gov. Frank O'Bannon was found unconscious in his hotel room Monday and taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery for a cerebral hemorrhage, his spokeswoman said. "He was unconscious and nonresponsive," spokeswoman Mary Dieter said from Indianapolis.
As Gov. Frank O'Bannon lay in critical condition following a stroke, the state Supreme Court formally transferred power Wednesday to Indiana's lieutenant governor.
