Gerald R. Ford was laid to rest on the grounds of his presidential museum Wednesday after eight days of mourning and remembrance that spanned the country, from the California desert to the nation's capital and back to Ford's boyhood home.

The family of former U.S. President Gerald Ford, who died Tuesday, announced Wednesday a series of memorial events beginning Friday in Palm Desert, Calif. Ford, who died at 93 at his home in Rancho Mirage, Calif., will lie in repose Friday at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert.
