Cleveland Indians center fielder Grady Sizemore had arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow Wednesday, the first of two operations he needed.
Cleveland center fielder Grady Sizemore needs surgeries on his left elbow and left side and will not play again this season. The team said Friday the elbow surgery will be an arthroscopic procedure designed to eliminate his constant pain and the second is for an unstable abdominal wall. The elbow surgery will be performed next week at Cleveland Clinic by Dr.
Placido Polanco, Carlos Guillen and Brandon Inge each homered Tuesday to lead the Detroit Tigers to an 8-5 victory over the Cleveland Indians. Polanco and Guillen hit back-to-back homers in the first inning and Inge later added a two-run homer.
Kelly Shoppach, Luis Valbuena and Grady Sizemore homered in a six-run sixth inning Sunday and Cleveland went on to down the plunging Minnesota Twins 7-4.
Shin-Soo Choo and Grady Sizemore touched off a 13-hit attack with early solo homers Saturday as Cleveland halted a three-game skid by downing Minnesota 7-3. Minnesota was unable to build on a two-hit shutout thrown by Scott Baker Friday.
