By Staff and Wire Reports GIBSONVILLE -- Parents, alumni and other school supporters are invited to a meeting Monday at Eastern Guilford High School that will cover the construction of the new school. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the media center, 415 Peeden Drive.

The official bicentennial celebration begins Tuesday with a torch relay through Greensboro's neighborhoods and ends with a parade on May 17. But the celebration will continue throughout the year, not just the 54 days of the main events and honors.

Guilford County Schools Connie Cromer has received a $1,000 N.C. Association of Educational Office Professionals scholarship. The award is given to GCS employees pursuing higher education.

Guilford County Schools Virginia Hoover, a school social worker for The High School Ahead Academy, was appointed by Gov. Michael Easley to serve on the Committee on Dropout Prevention.
