Norwegian oil and gas company StatoilHydro and its partner Sonatrach have made a fifth gas discovery in the Hassi Mouina license in Algeria's Sahara desert region. The existence of gas was confirmed by the exploration well TNKW-1 in the southern part of the license.
By Anonymous Sonatrach has awarded Saipem a contract to lay a pipeline for transporting LPG from the central Algerian gas field at Hassi R'mel to the oil export area of Arzew, in northwestern Algeria, on the Mediterranean coast. The contract is worth 285 million euro.

According to Al-Khabar newspaper (November 5, 2007), Algeria's state-run oil and gas company Sonatrach has recently sealed an agreement with the Italian energy group Saipem Snamprogetti Lead to build the AL- Z liquefied petroleum gas LPG pipeline linking Hassi R'mel gas field to Arzew port.
