By Mike Tolson, Houston Chronicle Aug. 6--Wind and rain, occasionally heavy but never severe, marked the arrival of Tropical Storm Edouard on Tuesday. By day's end there was little to remember him by other than soggy turf and a few aggravated souls left without power.
By Kevin Moran and Dale Lezon, Houston Chronicle Aug. 5--Bands of heavy rain and high winds lashed the upper Texas Gulf Coast as Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall early today and slogged toward the Houston area and farther inland.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch for the coast of western Louisiana and eastern Texas.
Why did Humberto leap to hurricane force so quickly? More importantly, how could its rapid summoning of dangerous power have been predicted so people on shore could have been forewarned? These questions are much on the minds of hurricane forecasters.
