Text of report in English by Japan's largest news agency Kyodo Tokyo, March 11 Kyodo - The largest opposition Democratic Party of Japan formally decided Tuesday to reject the government's nomination of Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Toshiro Muto for the post of governor of the central bank due to his background as a bureaucrat even though the nominee pledged in the Diet to ensure the BOJ's "independence." Senior DPJ lawmakers said the party reached the decision at a meeting of its leadership following Diet hearings on Muto and two others nominated to serve as his deputies - Masaaki Shirakawa, a former BOJ executive director, and Takatoshi Ito, a professor at the University of Tokyo.
