Mahdi al-Hafiz, a member of the electoral list led by former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, the National Iraqi List, has called for an independent investigation into violations and irregularities that he considers were made during and after the Iraqi election campaign, Iraqi Al-Sharqiyah TV reported on 17 December.

Iraqi journalist Walid Khalid was interviewed by Qatari Al- Jazeera satellite TV at 1217 gmt on 16 December for an update on the initial results of the Iraqi legislative elections.
