Ichiro Suzuki blooped a two-out single into center field in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday, scoring the winning run in Seattle's 4-3 victory over Toronto. Suzuki, who went 3-for-4, made contact with a 0-2 curve ball off Scott Downs (1-3) with the bases loaded to score Jack Hannahan from third. The win snapped a four-game Seattle losing streak and gave David Aardsma (3-3) the victory after pitching a scoreless ninth. Seattle led 3-1 after seven innings.
A two-run homer by Russell Branyan in the eighth inning Wednesday, one of just two hits for Seattle in the entire game, boosted the Mariners past Detroit 2-1.
