Matt Wieters and Nick Markakis combined to drive in seven runs Friday and lead Baltimore to a 13-4 decision over Cleveland. Rookie Jason Berken won his second straight decision thanks to the Orioles producing their second-largest run total of the season. Wieters doubled in a run in the second, had an RBI single in the fourth and then drove in two more runs in the sixth with his third hit of the game.
Rookie Nolan Reimold drove in a run during each of Baltimore's two big innings Friday, helping the Orioles get past Toronto 7-5. Baltimore overcame a three-run deficit to snap a two-game skid. The Orioles scored four times in the sixth off Ricky Romero (10-5), two of the tallies being unearned. With the bases loaded and one away, Nick Markakis reached on a fielding error by first baseman Lyle Overbay that allowed two runs to score. Aubrey Huff then singled in another run, and Markakis came in on a fielder's choice grounder by Reimold. Reimold added an RBI single during Baltimore's three-run seventh. Jason Berken (2-9) benefited from the comeback to win for the first time since posting a victory in his major league debut May 26. Berken lasted six innings, giving up three runs on five hits.
Boston's Victor Martinez drove in four runs and the Red Sox produced 23 hits Sunday, overpowering the Baltimore Orioles 18-10. Martinez batted 5-for-6, Mike Lowell and J.D.
Jason Giambi had a three-run double, Orlando Cabrera and Adam Kennedy had two doubles and two RBI each, and the Oakland A's beat Baltimore 9-4 Saturday. Oakland had eight doubles in all in their season-best fourth straight win and their sixth win in seven games.
Jason Berken made his major league debut Tuesday and was credited with the victory in the Baltimore Orioles' 7-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Berken (1-0), called up from Class AAA Norfolk before the game, allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings.
