Ian Kinsler homered twice and drove in four runs Thursday, fueling a 7-2 Texas win over the New York Yankees. Kinsler's 27th homer, a three-run blast, gave Texas a 3-1 lead with two outs in the top of the fourth and his 28th, a solo shot, capped the scoring with two outs in the eighth.
Josh Hamilton highlighted a five-run fourth that gave Texas the lead Friday and the Rangers held on for a wild 10-9 win over the New York Yankees. Texas took a five-run advantage into the bottom of the ninth, but the Yankees scored four times and had runners on first and second with nobody out. Closer Frank Francisco, however, got Nick Swisher to pop out on a bunt attempt and Melky Cabrera then lined into a double play to end New York's rally. Texas stayed within 1 ½ games of Boston for the lead in the American League wild-card race. New York took a 4-0 lead in the first, with Jorge Posada hitting a two-run homer.
Elvis Andrus went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, three runs scored and two RBI Tuesday to lead the Texas Rangers to a 7-3 victory over Detroit. Ian Kinsler drove in three runs and scored once for the Rangers.
