News - Jeremy Bonderman
American League Central-leading Detroit has taken right-hander Jeremy Bonderman off the disabled list heading down the final stretch of the regular season. The Tigers also added a number of other players to take advantage of the expanded roster limit. Bonderman, 26, has pitched just once for the Tigers this season after having thoracic outlet compression syndrome surgery last year.
Home runs by Brandon Inge and Matt Joyce Thursday led Detroit's 9-2 rout of the Seattle Mariners, completing a three-game sweep. Inge's three-run blast in the bottom of the second inning gave Detroit a 4-0 advantage and Joyce launched a two-run blast in the fifth to increase the lead to 7-2.
The Yankees sure didn't look like a team suffering from a lack of sleep. Johnny Damon homered and tripled, Melky Cabrera added a three-run triple and Chien-Ming Wang delivered eight effective innings, leading New York to a 7-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday night.
