The Smashing Pumpkins said on their Web site that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has parted ways with the Chicago rock band. The online announcement Friday offered no explanation for Chamberlin's, but did assure Smashing Pumpkins fans the band would be resuming studio recording this spring, the Chicago Tribune reported. Corgan will continue to write and record as Smashing Pumpkins, the posting said, referring to Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan. Corgan is now the only original member of the Siamese Dream band, which formed in 1988 in Chicago.
