Sophie Gustafson, trying for her first victory since 2003, maintained a one-shot lead Friday after two rounds of the CVS LPGA Challenge. Gustafson fired a 3-under-par 69 Friday for a 36-hole total of 134 at the Blackhawk Country Club.
Sophie Gustafson, trying to end a six-year winless drought, took a two-shot lead Thursday after one round of the CVS LPGA Challenge in Danville, Calif. Gustafson suffered only one bogey and shot a 7-under 65 over the Blackhawk Country Club course.
Na Yeon Choi lost a big lead but sank a 4-foot birdie putt on the final hole Sunday and won the LPGA Samsung World Championship in California by a stroke. Choi, who had led by seven shots, closed with a 1-under-par 71 for an overall score of 16-under 272 at the Torrey Pines course.
South Korea's Na Yeon Choi shot a 9-under 63 Saturday for a two-stroke lead at the women's Samsung World Championship. Choi, 21, had a 6-under 30 on the front nine and wound up 54 holes at 15-under 201.
