Hot-hitting Washington Nationals center fielder Nyjer Morgan will miss the rest of the season with a broken left hand. The speedster suffered the injury in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs during a head-first slide while trying to steal third base in the top of the first inning. Stephen Drew put Arizona in front with a two-run single in the eighth Wednesday, helping the Diamondbacks rally to a 4-3 win over Pittsburgh. The Pirates took a 3-1 lead into the eighth but Arizona jumped in front thanks in large part to a throwing error by Pittsburgh reliever Joel Hanrahan. Hanrahan (1-4) came on with the bases empty and one out in the eighth and immediately walked Ryan Roberts, who had hit a solo homer in the sixth.

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals made a four-player trade Tuesday. The Pirates acquired outfielder Lastings Milledge and right-handed pitcher Joel Hanrahan in exchange for outfielder Nyjer Morgan and left-handed pitcher Sean Burnett.
