Ross Gload drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth Tuesday and the Florida bullpen was almost perfect in bringing the Marlins a 2-1 win over the New York Mets. The Mets -- having learned earlier in the day that pitching star Johan Santana would have surgery for bone spurs in his left elbow and would miss the rest of the season -- lost their fourth straight game. Sean West (5-5) held the Mets to a run on six hits over six innings and the Florida relief corps put down nine of 10 batters the rest of the way. Leo Nunez needed just 10 pitches to retire the side in the ninth for his 15th save. Both sides scored a run in the fourth and the Marlins produced the winning tally in the fifth off Nelson Figueroa (1-3). Jeremy Hermida singled to open the fifth and moved to second on a sacrifice by West.
