Reliever Jon Rauch stranded the potential tying and winning runs in the ninth inning Friday, preserving Arizona's 2-1 victory over Oakland. Rauch came through at the end of a well-pitched game by both sides to earn his second save, both of which have come this week. Chris Young gave Arizona a 2-1 lead in the fifth with a solo homer to make a winner out of starter Billy Buckner. Buckner (1-0) was recalled from Class AAA Reno to make the start and it resulted in the third victory of his major league career.

PHOENIX - Chad Tracy hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Washington Nationals 3-2 on Wednesday. Javier Vazquez pitched seven solid innings for the Diamondbacks, who earned their second consecutive win over a team that had bedeviled them.
