Bronson Arroyo threw the third shutout of his 10-year career Thursday, allowing two hits in carrying the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-0 victory over Washington. Jonny Gomes hit three homers and drove in five runs to give Arroyo plenty of support. Arroyo (11-11) made the 218th start of his career, the last four years of which have been spent with the Reds.

Cincinnati's Jonny Gomes broke a tie with a two-run home run in the eighth inning and the Reds held on Sunday for a 5-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Gomes also drove in a run with a single and Brandon Phillips added a two-run single, helping the Reds split a four-game series. Prince Fielder clubbed a two-run homer for Milwaukee. Reliever David Weathers (2-2) got the win after pitching a scoreless eighth inning.
