News - Jordan Schafer
Kelly Johnson singled in Jordan Schafer from second with one out in the 10th inning Friday, giving the Atlanta Braves a 6-5 decision over Washington. The Nationals remained winless in four games, the franchise's worst start since the Montreal Expos lost seven in a row to open the 1998 season. Washington's Lastings Milledge drove in a run with an infield single in the ninth to keep the game going past 1 a.m.
Atlanta right-hander Derek Lowe held Philadelphia to two hits over eight innings Sunday and the Braves downed the defending World Series champion Phillies 4-1. Lowe (1-0) -- who signed as a free agent with the Braves during the off-season -- struck out four batters and did not give up a walk. Brian McCann, with a two-run shot, and Jeff Francoeur and Jordan Schafer homered for Atlanta.
