Colt McCoy and the second-ranked Texas Longhorns avenged their only 2008 loss Saturday with a 34-24 victory over Texas Tech. But McCoy passed for only 200 yards and one touchdown on 24-of-34 completions and threw two interceptions.

Cody Johnson ran for three touchdowns and Colt McCoy threw for two Saturday to lead 2nd-ranked Texas to a 59-20 win over Louisiana-Monroe. McCoy was 21-for-29 with 317 yards and an interception for the Longhorns.

Speedy Texas wide receiver Jordan Shipley will miss spring practice after right shoulder surgery. The procedure came after he was given a sixth year of college eligibility by the NCAA. He missed the 2004 and '05 seasons with leg injuries. Shipley, who is from Burnet, Texas, played in pain for much of 2008, but still became the first player in school history to score by reception, kickoff and punt return in the same season.
