SAINT SIMONS ISLAND, Ga., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Unarguably, golf's Majors - the Masters, U.S. Open Championship, The Open Championship (commonly referred to as the British Open) and PGA Championship - draw the elite of the elite professional players.
Paul Goydos continued the tradition of low scoring at the Texas Open Friday by grabbing a three-shot lead with a 36-hole total of 12-under 128. The lowest 72-hole score in the history of the PGA Tour was shot over the LaCantera Resort course six years ago -- a 254 turned in by Tommy Armour III. Goydos could challenge that record over the weekend as he seeks the third victory of his tour career.
Justin Leonard holed a 60-foot pitch for his final shot of the round Thursday, giving him a 7-under 63 and a share of the lead at the Texas Open. Leonard, a two-time winner of this event, was tied with Paul Goydos at the end of the event's opening day -- one that produced low scoring at the LaCantera Resort course. They had a one-shot lead over Jeff Maggert, Marc Leishman and Ted Purdy.
SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second time in the event's three-year history, Ben Crenshaw was declared champion of the Direct Energy Texas Grand Slam at San Antonio's Briggs Ranch Golf Club on Tuesday.
