By Robyn Meadows There's something sort of magical about the first day of school: new clothes, shiny shoes and fresh-smelling book bags. It's such a key day in life that no one - from students to parents and to educators - sleeps much the night before, educators say.
Featuring top bands like Skillet, three stages of music, speakers and a variety of events, the annual Purple Door Arts and Music Festival is returning to the region next month.
Lancaster Mennonite School will hold a Prospective Student Day on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 8:05 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. at the high school and in the morning only at the middle and elementary schools. Visiting students may attend classes and meet teachers for a firsthand look.
A Nickel Mines Reflection Concert will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at Lancaster Mennonite School Fine Arts Center, 2176 Lincoln Highway East.
