Mike Reid defeated John Cook in a playoff Sunday and won the Tradition in Oregon, his second major victory on the Champions Tour. The two players had tied at 16-under-par 272 in regulation. Reid rolled in a 10-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole after Cook had missed a birdie attempt. There's been a lot of good things in my game the last few weeks, Reid said.
Michael Allen, who never won in 334 PGA Tour events, shot a 3-under-par 67 and captured the Senior PGA Championship Sunday in his Champions Tour debut. Allen, 50, finished at 6-under 274 at the Canterbury Golf Club in Beachwood, Ohio, good for a two-shot victory in one of the major events on the 50-and-over tour. It's been a great week, Allen said. Larry Mize (67) was second at 276, Bruce Fleisher (67) third at 277 and Tom Watson (66) placed fourth. Allen slammed a 315-yard drive on the final hole, hit his approach to within 12 feet and sank the birdie putt.
