Hndreds of NHS jobs are to be axed by an NHS Trust which has a hospital in the constituency of Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt, it was announced yesterday. The University Hospitals of Leicester said 900 fewer staff would be working for the trust by the end of 2009.

A SUPERBUG has claimed the lives of 49 people at three hospitals in the past eight months, a health chief said last night. A further 29 deaths are being investigated and could be linked to the outbreak of Clostridium Difficile (C Diff) at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
