Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson has issued a weed quarantine on 40 acres of land in McIntosh County. Johnson ordered the quarantine on Monday in response to reports from the county weed board that the land was infested with leafy spurge.

By CAROLE HAWKINS The owners of a northern McIntosh County development have agreed to pay a $30,000 penalty and restore the property's 25-foot-wide marsh buffer that investigators found had been mowed illegally.
