A 92-year-old woman says she reconnected with her 93-year-old new husband after 85 years, rekindling a romance that began when they were kids in Wisconsin. Lorraine McKitrick said she and her husband Roland married in Mount Prospect, Ill., more than eight decades after they enjoyed a childhood romance before moving forward with their individual lives, the Chicago Tribune reported Sunday. McKitrick said after losing touch with Roland in their youth, the pair was reunited nearly three years ago through siblings. Then last week, McKitrick was told by her childhood sweetheart he needed to speak with her. I thought, 'What have I done wrong?' McKitrick said regarding Wednesday's meeting.
A 93-year-old Illinois man says he is marrying his third-grade sweetheart after 85 years apart. Roland Mac McKitrick, 93, of Arlington Heights, proposed to Lorraine Beatty, 92, of Georgia, Tuesday morning, about three years after they reconnected following an 85-year lull in their friendship, the Arlington Heights Daily Herald reported Thursday. She was my third-grade sweetheart back in 1921, McKitrick said.
