Michael Hoey beat Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano in a three-hole playoff Sunday to win the Estoril Open golf tournament at Cascais, Portugal. The native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, had started the fourth round in a tie for 19th place, but contended after four birdies in his first 10 holes. Later, birdies at 14 and 15 negated a bogey at the par-4 12th hole and helped Hoey join his Spanish foe at 7-under 277 overall. It's amazing really, Hoey said after winning a tournament for the first time in eight seasons on the tour.
