Blizzard Entertainment announced Wednesday that Diablo 3, their newest action/role-playing video game for PCs, has sold more than 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours following its release, setting a new sales record for the platform.

Activision Blizzard announced that the company was laying off 600 employees globally. The company makes World of Warcraft (WOW) and has seen a drop-off of subscribers recently.

Blizzard Entertainment is retiring nearly 2,000 servers and is offering them for sale to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
