The Kansas City Royals have lost veteran outfielder Jose Guillen for as long as eight weeks because of a freak right knee injury, the team said Friday. Guillen was injured before his first at-bat in Wednesday's 9-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Kansas City Royals third baseman Alex Gordon will miss 10-12 weeks after undergoing successful right hip surgery on Friday, the team said. Gordon was injured last Saturday in a game against the New York Yankees.
