They did not drive across the Atlantic, but Greyhound buses will soon debut in Britain, aiming for young travelers, the British owners said. FirstGroup took control of Greyhound in 2007 for $3.1 billion, but had yet to begin service in Britain until now, The Times of London reported Wednesday.

Many in Britain feel public transportation will play a larger part in the country's future, a recent survey found.

Aberdeen-based transport giant FirstGroup last year expanded its empire in the United States. In February, Britain's biggest rail and bus operator agreed a pounds1.9billion deal to buy US group Laidlaw. The yellow school bus giant also owned trans-American bus company Greyhound.
