By Margarita Bauza, Detroit Free Press Jun. 29--Talks between Northwest Airlines and its pilots union are expected to continue today in an attempt to stop the spate of flight cancellations that have stranded thousands of passengers nationwide.

Northwest Airlines, battling crew shortages that forced it to cancel hundreds of flights, may get a respite next week as limits on pilots' flight time ease and discussions with workers begin, a union official said.
