Last month, President Obama designated seven eminent researchers for the National Medal of Science (NMS) and five inventors for the National Medal of Technology and Innovation (NMTI), the highest honors bestowed by the United States government on scientists, engineers and inventors.
Deadline for honorary award nominations is Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 11:59 p.m.
Dr. Bert O'Malley, chair of molecular and cellular biology at Baylor College of Medicine and the Tom Thompson Distinguished Service Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology, is the 2011 recipient of the Ernst Schering Prize, which recognized his pioneering work on the actions of steroid hormones and nuclear receptors.
