No makeup date was announced, but the teams will complete their abbreviated three-game series at Nationals Park Thursday night. Also, the potential pitching matchup for Thursday was not announced. The opener on Monday saw the tragic death of 73-year-old Hall-of-Fame Phillies play-by-play announcer Harry Kalas. He was pronounced dead at George Washington University Hospital after collapsing around 1:20 p.m.
Ryan Howard broke a tie game in the seventh with a three-run homer and the Philadelphia Phillies went on to beat Washington 9-8. Harry Kalas, play-by-play announcer for the Phillies since 1971, died at age 73 two hours before the first pitch.
