A Councillor is hoping that the city's re-emerging passion for Northern Soul will provide a boost for charity. Hundreds of people from across the region have been involved in the filming of period music movie Souled Out at Stoke's King's Hall.

By LAURA NAYLOR Extras in a film charting Stoke-on-Trent's Northern Soul scene in the 1970s have been getting a taste of stardom. Filming of Souled Out is taking place at the King's Hall in Stoke, which is being used to replicate the legendary Wigan Casino - where much of the action takes place.

Filming for a film about Northern Soul was starting in Stoke-on- Trent today. Souled Out charts the rise of the Northern Soul scene in the Potteries during the 1970s and tells the story of 17-year-old Stoke City fan Joe McCain, who learns about life and love through the Northern Soul scene.
