By Joey Leslie In what Cincinnati Police Chief Thomas Streicher Jr., called an unprecedented effort, city police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are joining forces to try to reduce the number of highway fatalities this summer on interstate highways in and around the Queen City.
Fatal accidents are up 26 percent in Montgomery County this year, and officials blame speed, distractions and substance abuse for the increase. Fatal accidents in Greene, Warren and Miami counties are about the same as they were last year.
