By Robert Brooks Protesters fighting plans for the region's biggest wind farm have been dealt a major blow, after a long-awaited independent study backed a 28-turbine development on moors in Northumberland.

The study by consultants Ove Arup into wind farms in Northumberland considered cumulative impact, landscape capacity and visual impact. Whether one agrees or disagrees with the study's conclusions, the fact is that at least one of those criteria required an opinion to be drawn.
