Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (MEI)(NYSE:MC), best known for its Panasonic brand, commented on the media reports of April 28 in Japan about a possible alliance with SANYO Electric Co., Ltd.

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. will adopt a new corporate name that includes its digital products brand name "Panasonic," company officials said Thursday. The corporate name change will be made in October, the officials said.
