MACHANG: Public and commercial transport operators whose vehicles emit excessive smoke will be slapped with stiffer penalties including fines of more than RM500,000 when the Environment Quality Act 1974 is amended, Natural Resources and Environ-ment parliamentary secretary Datuk Sazmi Miah said.
