News - Philip Seymour Hoffman
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- OVERVIEW: From Richard Curtis, director of Love Actually, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones's Diary and Four Weddings and a Funeral, comes the musically charged, feel-great comedy about rock and roll in the 1960s.
Hollywood actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has signed on to direct and star in a big-screen adaptation of Bob Glaudini's play, Jack Goes Boating. Variety.com said Gone Baby Gone actress Amy Ryan is set to co-star with Hoffman, while John Ortiz and Daphne Rubin-Vega will reprise their roles from the stage production of the New York-set romantic comedy. The film will mark Hoffman's feature film directorial debut, the entertainment industry trade newspaper noted.
Late Australian actor Heath Ledger won the Golden Globe for best supporting actor in a film in Beverly Hills, Calif., Sunday night. Ledger, who died last January at age 28 from an accidental prescription drug overdose, earned the Globe for his portrayal of the malevolent Joker in the latest Batman adventure, The Dark Knight. All of us who worked with Heath on 'The Dark Knight' accept this with an awful mixture of sadness and incredible pride, the movie's director, Chris Nolan, said as he took the stage to pick up Ledger's prize.
