HAMPTON ROADS, Va., March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced the completion of a key initiative in its ongoing efforts to enhance the wireless capacity and performance of its mobile broadband network in Hampton, Yorktown and Poquoson.

City Council of Hampton, Virginia, has authorized Verizon Communications to offer its fiber-optic-powered FiOS TV service in the region. The 15-year cable franchise covers approximately 55,000 households in Hampton.

Despite higher ticket prices and a sluggish economy, passenger traffic was up almost 4 percent at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport during the first half of 2008. A total of 515,954 people flew through the airport during the past six months.
