The Egyptian harbours of Port Said and Damietta occupied the 60th and 72nd positions on a list prepared by the Cargo Systems Magazine on the most important 100 ports across the world.

Egyptian TV quoted a police statement in which it indicated that the police had arrested 39 people in Alexandria and 20 others in Port Said [220 kms northeast of Cairo] in addition to five people in Al-Fayyum [40kms west of Giza] and that police forces clashed with Muslin Brotherhood, MB, supporters in the town of Tanta [86 kms north of Cairo].
