By Busrin Treerapongpichit, Bangkok Post, Thailand Jul. 14--The government plans to extend promotional privileges to spur investment in crucial industries, including iron and steel, to 10 years from eight, according to caretaker industry minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit.

Aug. 25--Authorities in Prachuap Khiri Khan are studying plans to build a power plant fueled by waste from coconut trees. A small plant could be built that would power local factories or the output could be sold to energy authorities, district agricultural chief Noppadol Pungpong said.
